The problem with getting group XP as a Jedi, was you gained "visibility" when you were around other players, even if they were friends in your group. This caused your name to appear on the bounty hunter terminals, which meant that bounty hunters would be coming after you. Since you lost a large amount of XP every time you were killed by a bounty hunter, many Jedi avoided grouping at all costs. This led to Jedi soloing most of the time, which coupled with the large amount of XP required meant that our members who were grinding Jedi basically 'disappeared', never to be seen again.
I have heard this is a way to group without gaining 'visibility' now. Both of the SWG guilds I belong to have mentioned it. So that may be a moot point now.
Like most games, SWG is as broken as you want to make it. Are there still bugs? Absolutely. Is the combat system still unbalanced? Yes. Do some weapons still not work right? Yup. Can you still not group an entertainment bot on a multi-player starship? Uh-huh.
But the CU is in and some people are having fun with it.
It is much like Guild Wars. When most of my friends stopped playing SWG, I stopped playing SWG because it was no longer fun. Many of my friends have hit the limit in GW now and have stopped playing. Am I still having fun? Usually. For me, the game is only as much fun as the people I play it with. So if your friends are playing SWG again, then you'll probably be able to look over the flaws and really have a good time.
